Why Youth With A Mission in Reno?

Reno is an epicenter of spirituality. Many people may not realize that their spirit hungers, but it does and searches for whatever may satisfy that hunger. Individuals are drawn here because Reno has many counterfeit ways to feed the hunger of the spirit.  One may consider Burning Man, an art festival in Blackrock Desert, as a sign of the growing hunger as an example of this.

This hunger of the human spirit for fulfillment is only matched by God’s hunger. God greatly desires to root out all deceptive forms spirituality and replace it with His Spirit, his true nourishment which will enrich all of Reno.

YWAM Reno is a response from God’s heart to fulfill this hunger. We have come to set the table with fine heavenly delicacies which will initiate holistic growth using a customized strategy for Reno.

What is YWAM

Youth With A Mission is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Also known as YWAM (pronounced “WHY-wham”) We unite in a common purpose to know God and to make Him known. Back when we began in 1960, our main focus was to get youth involved in missions.

Today, we still focus on youth, and we also involve people aged 9 to 90. We currently have tens of thousands of staff (called “YWAMers”) and we work in thousands of teams and locations. One of the joys of participating in YWAM is to work with people from many nations.

Emily Grigg

Emily’s YWAM journey begins at age 17, back in January 2007, when her family came to do CDTS at YWAM Chico. That next fall, Emily’s family joined staff (and are still on staff at YWAM Chico). Emily did her own Discipleship Training School back in Fall 2008 at YWAM Gleanings for the Hungry with an outreach to Cambodia. After spending time in college, furthering her passions and skills and seeking God’s direction for her life, she joined staff at YWAM Chico Fall 2015. In Fall of 2017, during a short-term outreach, the Lord captured Emily’s heart for Reno. After pursuing more leadership training at YWAM Chico, Emily began her transition to YWAM Reno staff.

Her passions include people, Asia, worship, drama, art, food, books, and teaching (not necessarily in that order). Emily’s vision is to champion young people to achieve their full potential, walking in their full identity, giftings and calling. Emily Grigg

Joseph Bostaph

I’m 22 years old and I’m from Santa Rosa California. I’ve been apart of YWAM for 2 years now and it has changed my life forever! I did my DTS in Mendocino, God used the people there to change my heart on such a deep level. He has used that time with Mendocino to change the way I live my life for Him. This is one of the reasons why I’m so passionate about YWAM, I’ve heard so much and seen so much good come from this organization there’s no doubt God is leading the people in YWAM. I’m hoping to continue to work with YWAM for many years to come.  Joseph Bostaph
